It is often said that there is no art bigger than science and no science bigger than art! At some perspective art and science are the only two ways to explore this world. In keeping with this, primary drive behind anything I do is to explore this world either through science or through art. As a professional neuroscientist my main activities involve experimenting with different aspects of brain biology. My scientific research focuses on understanding pliability of brains; immense power of the brain to change in response to changes in the environment. Such plasticity drives our everyday experience, memories and survival.
Although scientific research is central to my life, art is crucial in synthesizing all aspects of my intellectual understanding. I feel we need to exercise both our scientific and artistic abilities equally well to get the fullest view of our world and to make the best sense of our existence. |
